An argument could be made for Midnight Bunny instead of Miss Direction, which allows for a more aggressive gameplan, potentially letting you use Starry Pop Dragon a second time in one turn. Both cards give you card advantage and put things into your Soul, which is solid advantage imo. This increases your flex slots to 3 (assuming you run 4 Masquerade Bunny.) The list I’ve been “testing” (as much as a few solitaire games can be called testing) has been running 1 Silver Thorn Beast Tamer, Dorianne and 2 Miss Direction. That said, I believe that running more than 2 copies of Starry Pop Dragon is redundant, as Lore Pigeon Pop can tutor for it from anywhere besides the damage zone. Given that you’re running a low G3 count, some of those flex slots are taken up by Masquerade Bunny, the G3 searcher, leaving only a single flex slot. In theory, if you ran 4 copies of all the Harri Magia Doll cards, you’d have 45 cards (including triggers). Additionally, Pop allows you to get some extra attacks, stack more Accel markers, and actually close out the game with a huge attack that can’t be blocked with Sentinels. The Magia Dolls are incredibly efficient cards, allowing you to Counter Charge (CC,) draw, gain power and remove opponents’ rearguards when called by Harri. The core of the deck is the Magia Dolls, Harri, bird Pop and dragon Pop.

You still retain their effects (+10 for Accel 1 or +5 and a card for Accel 2,) but you only have one extra circle. In exchange, you now stack your Accel markers like a Force player stacks Force markers. Harri is the only card that makes it so far, and it limits you to one additional rearguard circle from your Accel markers. The “Stage” is the new mechanic of the Magia Dolls. The G2 bird swings and tutors (searches) for your finisher from deck, soul or drop. Harri calls them out, and they all do things when called by Harri.

Now that we have a (presumably) full archetype to explore, I figured now would be a good time to get this ball rolling, one deck at a time.Ī quick overview of the new cards for those unfamiliar with them: Whenever any of the Magia Dolls are used to Guard, they go into Soul instead of the drop zone. Before Butterfly d’Moonlight I was working on something similar for older Pale Moon lists, however Harri and Venus Luquier being revealed as the VRs (my wallet weeps) threw a wrench into that. With the new Harri support revealed a few days ago, I felt the need to talk about it as Pale Moon is my favorite clan. Additionally, not all cards from VBT-09 have been spoiled at this time, so everything is subject to change. I am one dude with a love for Pale Moon, and I can make mistakes. In short, take what I say here with a grain of salt. I will not discuss meta match-ups, as I don’t have much experience playing against meta decks at a higher level of play such as a BCS. That said, I believe that I can make a fair assessment of the deck in a vacuum. Due to COVID, I haven’t been able to actually play Vanguard more than a handful of times in the past months, let alone tested with the new cards. Most of what I get into for the nitty gritty details is theorycrafting and speculation based on limited testing. TLDR for that, she's great and fixes the biggest issues the deck has.
